As per the candidate’s qualifications and interests, they can apply for the different trade courses. The eligibility norms of the trade programs require the applicant to either pass Standard 8th or 10th or 12th exams. Only if they satisfy the stipulated criteria, they are advised to apply.

The Government of India started the Craftsmen Scheme during the 1950s for establishing several Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that are government managed and Industrial Training Centers that are privately owned. The objective was to create a skilled workforce base for raising industrial production (both qualitatively and quantitatively) through systematic training and employable skilled training. As part of vocational education, the young minds develop industrial and technical attitude and are groomed to become professionals in the specialized trades.
After completing the trade courses, the pupils can work in the chosen trades in varied organizations and become financially independent.
In all, vocational training shapes craftsmen to cater to the existing and future manpower requirements through the extensive network of ITIs and ITCs, spanning the different Indian states.
