Within the Ambala district of Haryana lies Ambala – a city and municipal corporation. The Indian state of Haryana shares borders with Punjab state while Chandigarh serves as the capital city of both these Indian states. Ambala has an Industrial Training Institute (ITI), which is managed by the Haryana State Government.
Across India, including Ambala in Haryana, ITIs have been set up to provide technical training to aspiring candidates. Many youngsters are keen on gaining technical knowledge rather than continuing with conventional schooling. They have the option of enrolling in the government-run ITIs and privately-managed Industrial Training Centers (ITCs).
In India, both ITIs and ITCs are deemed post-secondary schools. They were instituted as per the Craftsmen Scheme, which is a Government of India initiative.
The ITI in Ambala conducts a range of technical training programs in different trades. These include Machinist, Fitter, Foundryman, Mechanic (Electrical, Diesel, Motor Vehicle, among others), Wireman, Turner, Painter, Stenography (English and Hindi) – to list a few.
The full-time, technical-based courses have durations ranging from 1 to 3 years. After successfully completing the courses, the students are given certificates. With the certificates, they are eligible to work in the trades that they have specialized in. They are eligible to work as skilled or semi-skilled personnel (depending on their trades) in organizations that come under the Department of Industrial Training Haryana Chandigarh.
Besides, the Ambala ITI offers an array of infrastructural facilities. The students are provided with a cafeteria for serving refreshments. Also, they can engage in different sports at the sports grounds. Among other amenities, they can avail healthcare, internet connectivity, hostels, library services, among others.
