For aspiring candidates wanting to pursue vocational training rather than continuing with conventional schools, the Industrial Training Institute in Hisar has been set up by the Department of Industrial Training, Haryana.
The Hisar ITI offers a host of trade programs that candidates can choose from. They can enrol for specialized trades such as Electrician, fitter, draughtsman, Mechanic (Tractor, Diesel, Motor Vehicle, among others), Painter, Plumber, and Machinist – to list a few.
In India, both the Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) impart vocational training. The ITIs are funded by government agencies and the ITCs are privately owned.
To be eligible for the vocational-based courses, the aspirant should complete their 8th standard or 10th standard or 12th standard studies. The eligibility criteria for the different trade courses vary. And going by the trades they are interested in, they can forward their applications if they meet the eligibility norms.
Starting from 6 months and going up to 2 years, the trade programs are convened. Also, they are classified into two categories: Engineering and Non-Engineering.
Further, trades come under the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) and State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT) grouping. The NCVT frames the guidelines of the vocational programs at the national level. Subsequently, the SCVT bears the responsibility of implementing the listed instructions.
Under the Craftsmen Scheme of the 1950s, the ITIs and ITCs received accreditation from the Government of India. And Apprenticeship training lasts for 1 year and constitutes the vocational programs that the training centers conduct. As part of the training, the pupils work at skilled and semi-skilled levels for gaining professional experience.
Besides, the pupils get NCVT and SCVT certifications (whichever is applicable) that make them eligible for employment in organizations, under the chosen trades.
