Nuh (formerly known as Mewat) city houses the district headquarters of Nuh district that is traceable to the northern Indian state, Haryana. The Government Industrial Training Institute (ITI) at Nuh was set up during the year 2012, offering 5 trade programs. Later, in the year 2014, the Institute Management Committee (IMC) was instituted by M/s Maruti Suzuki Limited for improving the level of vocational education. Under the Craftsmen Scheme that the Government of India introduced during the 1950s, the different Indian states received approval for imparting vocational training under the ITIs and Industrial Training Centers (ITCs). The Government is responsible for managing the ITIs; and private agencies, the ITCs.
The ITIs and ITCs are referred to as post-secondary schools in India. Aspiring candidates who do not want to continue conventional studies and, instead, want to pursue vocational education can avail the option of applying to the ITIs and ITCs.
Presently, the Government Nuh ITI offers courses in 17 trades, ranging from 1 year to 2 years and grouped under engineering and non-engineering ones. The trade courses have accreditation of the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT). The SCVT conforms to the guidelines of the national-level National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) that is an advisory body.
The Government Nuh ITI conducts 1-year courses in trades such as Welder, Plumber, Carpenter, Sheet Metal Worker, Mechanic (Diesel Engine / Tractor), among others. Besides, the 2-year trade programs are held in trades including Fitter, Machinist, Draughtsman, Wireman, Turner, Painter, Mechanic )Air Conditioning & Refrigeration), among others.
As part of the trade courses, the students have to complete the 1-year Apprenticeship program as well. They can approach the Placement Cell to register for the training programs.
Following the completion of the programs, they receive certificates and, then, become eligible to apply for jobs in the stipulated trades.
