Panchkula city is traced to the Panchkula district of the Indian Haryana state and is a planned city. The term ‘Panchkula’ originates from the meeting place of the five irrigation canals. Panchkula constitutes part of the neighboring areas of Zirakpur, Mohali, and Chandigarh. The Government Industrial Institute of Panchkula started offering vocational courses in the year 2009. The institute provides courses in a variety of trades. Aspiring candidates can apply for specializing in trades such as Surface Ornamentation, Sewing Technology, Plumber, Electrician, Stenographer, Catering & Hospitality Assistant, among others.

The students who have appeared in the ITI final exam can undergo Apprenticeship training for gaining experience in varied industries.
