Sirsa town is traced to Sirsa district that is located towards the western region of the Haryana state of India. Keeping in mind the vocational education needs of the youth population of the neighboring areas of Sirsa, the Government Industrial Training Institute at Sirsa was started during the year 1963. India houses several Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) that the Government of India manages and Industrial Training Centers (ITCs) that private agencies control. The ITIs and ITCs work with the objective of developing students into skilled and semi-skilled professionals for catering to the manpower needs of industries. In turn, the quality of industrial production improves which contributes to the progress of the nation at large. Moreover, the youngsters gain employment after they complete the trade courses, giving them a means of livelihood for supporting their families.
The Sirsa Government ITI spans 13 acres of land and conducts a series of trade courses, which include the engineering and non-engineering ones. More so, the trade programs are run under two schemes. First is the National Council of Vocational Training (NCVT) and second is the State Council of Vocational Training (SCVT).
Among the various trades courses at Sirsa ITI are Dress Making, Welding, Electrician, Painter, Machinist, Fitter, Carpenter, Plumber, among others.
The students at Sirsa ITI are, also, offered a host of facilities for enriching their educational experience. The campus has spacious classrooms, with the latest training aids. Also, the Library is well-stocked with a range of reference material. Computer laboratories with internet connectivity are other facilities that the center offers the pupils. Workshops having the latest tools and equipment for imparting practical knowledge are among other available amenities. Besides, the campus has sports grounds where the students can indulge in different sports.
